Abortion Support Network (ASN) is a volunteer-run charity that provides financial assistance, accommodation in volunteer homes, and confidential, non-judgmental information to women in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland who are travelling to England to access a safe and legal abortion. Funding is available on a case by case basis depending on circumstance and availability of funding. Accommodation for women is offered as necessary, either the night before or after a procedure or, in the case of later abortion, the night during a procedure.
We can also help women travelling from the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and can provide information to any woman travelling to England for an abortion.

September 2011 was a daunting month for reproductive rights activists here in AZ. Thanks to new legislation, folks seeking abortions now have to jump through all sorts of hoops. These hoops especially hit poor persons in rural communities making it virtually impossible to gain abortion access.
It’s time to ACT, which is exactly why a group of radical folks in Phoenix and Tucson are currently collaborating on creating an abortion fund of sorts to help with housing those coming from afar, to help with financing abortions, etc.

This link was posted to the AZFAN facebook page…. this is the first time I’ve heard of it, and apparently it was passed on March 29 of this year. The Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Pre-Natal Non-Discrimination Act ”requires doctors and health care providers to monitor the reasons women of color get abortions.” Check out the link for more disturbing information as to one more instance of the great state of Arizona interfering with/ruining the lives of people of color; and in this case, the women in those communities.
